We went there with our elderly parents and will not go back. After waiting for more than 10 minutes for the hostess to get off the phone and recognize us, I asked for a manager, who was conveniently not there. The hostess was disgusted and stayed on the phone while she grabbed four menus. I told here we needed to use the ramp to get to the upper level because our parents could not navigate the stairs. She actually walked away to the back to finish her conversation and did not come back to seat us. I we t to the bar to ask someone for help because we finally got to the upper tables. The help we got was for the. To squeeze us in at the end of a table. When I asked them to seat us appropriately to accommodate the disabled they said they could not do this. We then left. Bottom line, there are so many good places around to go. I would never go back here or recommend to anyone!

Saitos is my favorite restaurant but i have never experienced such awful customer service in my life. The waitress went as far a screaming, yelling, and giving three dollars in change in pennies to be spiteful, she even followed me outside of the store. I will NEVER be going back here.

Ordered appetizers. They never took our dinner order. Waited twenty minutes for check and left.

nice atmosphere, decent sushi platter. Negamaki came out luke-warm, sent back to re-heat . We're used to the plate coming out of the kitchen still steaming, as it should be. Had better , but we were in CityPlace and they corner the market for nice view and sushi, whatchagonnado? 2 stars, that's about it. Hope the owner reads these reviews and does something about the problems........................

Went to Saitos for a birthday dinner celebration with several good friends. The server came took our drink order and dinner order and we did not see the server for the remainder of the evening. On several occasions different ones of my guest and I had to go find a server to refresh our drinks or bring condiments to the table. At the end of evening we asked the manager to remove the gratuity, since we had not received great service and we would leave our own tip. The manager reduced our gratuity so we paid our bill and were proceeding to leave when the server comes over and demands we leave more of a tip or she was going to call the police. We continue to leave without argument and she continues to follow us out of the restaurant and proceeds to call the cops on us because we did not leave a 18% tip. Gratefully enough the officers that arrived confirmed we had paid our bills let us leave with no issue.Sad end to a great birthday, the food was great, but the service sad and on top off it the server told us if we felt the service was so bad we did not need to come back, don't worry we won't

The food is very good, but on the expensive side for Japanese hibachi. Typically when I get hibachi I expect to get soup, salad, meat, fried rice, vegetables, and noodles. I noticed that at Saito they charge additional for fried rice and don't include noodles either. Their sushi menu is average. Nothing really stood out on the menu. I ordered the Saito Roll and it was pretty good. Most their rolls meet my expectations but nothing really surpassed it. Overall, a great place for everyone to enjoy

my go to place for sushi! usually get the JB roll, tried few other rolls such as black dragon roll before which were great as well. the sushi is always soo fresh, hard to find these days. love their sakes as well! haven't tried the hibachi yet, on my to do list tho!

I have always thought Benihanas was the corniest restaurant on earth. The concept of a bunch of idiots sitting around a table watching some random Chef do corny ass tricks on a grill is just, ummm, well, its gay. So when my Uncle announced that he was taking the family to dinner and we were going to Saito, the lack of excitement on my part had to be hidden. We had a fantastic experience. The chef was incredible, entertaining and funny. Additionally, the chef was able to handle dietary restrictions with ease. The food was unbelievably tasty, and it has forever changed my mind about Japanese steakhouses. I was impressed.

Chicken was dry, staff was slow and we were the only people in this huge restaurant. Not a good sign...we should have run.

I have a feeling if you're not here for the hibachi or sushi, you're not really here for anything good. My scallop stirfry looks like it should have cost 10 bucks instead of 20. SO plain and boring. The veggies were bitter too, I think their wok was burnt when they cooked the whole dish. My boyfriends deep fried chilean sea bass was another story. Maybe there IS no way to mess up chilean sea bass? It was a HUGE slab, and it was so creamy. He likened it to eating fat. Which of course, tastes really good. The sauce was basically reduced worcestershire sauce - skip it. Maybe if we had made it in time for the lunch special we wouldn't have felt so ripped off. If you ever find yourself at City Place, don't come here for the stirfry. There are plenty of other good restaurants around.

Saito is... Saito. There's nothing that inherently sets it apart from other Japanese places, but it's still good. It's middle of the road for me. I've always sat outside or in a booth inside. If I want hibachi I go elsewhere (Nippon up in Jupiter. I hope they're still open), and not being a sushi fan to begin with, I stick with their regular entrees. The fried rice is pretty good, the entrees I've had are consistently good, and house salads are just like every other Japanese restaurant's house salad. The cucumber salad isn't like any other I've had. The wait staff can be hit or miss sometimes, but the people who run it all are very nice. They raised their prices a little since the last time I went, but it's still fair considering the cost of CityPlace rent and increases in food prices for everyone. It can be a little gimmicky, but it's a great place for birthdays and special events.

I have ordered take-out from Saito about once weekly for the last 5 years of so...and although my order is more often wrong then right, I keep coming back. Good thing for them they are the only sushi in CityPlace...

Bad sushi - don't go. We went on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and it was terrible. Too much rice with the sushi, thin cuts of fish, most rolls consisted of fake crab (they call "Kkrabb") and/or cream cheese. Hello, is that really sushi? Awful.

V's right, this place is just ok. It's this simple ... it's hard to f' up sushi. it's really, really hard to make sushi so good its orgasmic. I've been to 2 or 3 places in LA and NY that can achieve this. But on the most part, its about ingredients, and sometimes about creativity. This place's sushi is just alright. Not bad, but nothing to brag about. I ordered the boat for 4 people (there were 3 of us) and we got salmon/tuna/snapper/yellowtail sashimi, a philadelphia roll, a spicy tuna roll, a shrimp nigiri, and several other assorted nigiri rolls that I forget. We finished it all, and started the evening off with several glasses of wine (nice wine list), the calamari (it's long, like a single tube sock ... not chopped up like usual ... not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just sayin'). I gave them 3 stars because I did NOT eat in their habachi room. It sounded loud and as equally obnoxious as Benihana's. Not that I don't like that place either, but there's a time and a place for family style foolishness, and that time and place is 8th grade graduation parties. The outside of the restaurant makes you think this place is uncommonly good and fancy, but the moment you walk into the restaurant (to the right, NOT the habachi room) it's like you're in a cheap Chinese restaurant. Should have hired a better interior designer, Saito-san. The decor is random and misleading, but the food was what you'd expect at your average sushi joint ... don't be fooled by the valet parking. This place is just OK. The best thing about it was the brown mustard/horseradish dipping sauce for the calimari. It was sooooo kid. I gave them a single star just for that. And it probably came out of a bottle. Go figure. PS ... I went to the one that opened in Palm Beach Gardens. It's off PGA boulevard, in a shopping center with Cantina Laredo and J. Alexanders.

Known formula, the 'volcano' and ' Shrimp in the hat' are getting a little tired. Probably the worst interior i have ever seen but the food is ok.

Just an utterly disappointing experience, all around. The food, the service, not good. We stopped by early on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was empty, but we weren't able to sit at the grill because there was only one chef on duty and the table was already full. I didn't mind so much, but I can imagine most eat here specifically for the show. We had our drink order taken promptly after we sat down, but it took ten minutes for the server to bring it out. My SIL and I both ordered the hibachi chicken, which is reasonably priced considered it included a soup or salad, veggies, chicken, and rice. My favorite part of the meal was the salad dressing, it tasted great. I think I could eat it with a spoon. We shared a piece of sushi, which I thought was fine, but I know zero about sushi so it could have been terrible to a sushi expert. Although I loved the two sauces that come with the meal, I found the chicken, veggies, and fried rice underwhelming. The chicken was too plain, needed salt, and overcooked. The veggies and rice, just ok. The service was not awesome. Besides the annoying drink wait, the waitress never seemed to be around when we wanted something. I know it is probably beyond their control, but the fire alarm went off three or four times during our meal. It totally effed up the little bit of ambiance they had. It's a shame because I have been to the Saito's in Coconut Creek a couple years ago and really enjoyed the show and the meal. This location is an absolute miss. I won't be back.

Capital 'F' Faux Japanese. We opted for the dining room table (as opposed to the hibachi). Food was really gross. Extremely greasy and lacking in taste. Their maki rolls were dismal as the rice had no vinegar flavoring. Our bill was expensive too. A definite skip.

Don't know why the rating is so low. I enjoy myself every time I'm there. The show is entertaining and the food is great. I stop there as much as possible.

I live in new York city so we were looking for some away time from my parents during a visit. We could this place thru yelp. I thought the prices were not expensive as compared to NYC. The food was pretty good for this kind of place. The sushi was very good. Nice thick pieces and they were firm and fresh tasting. The decor was plain compared to a Benihana. The steak and shrimp were cooked well and to my liking so bravo. The ginger dressing on the salad was one of the best I have ever had. The staff were very attentive and great with kids. They even have special chopsticks for kids and not kinds you add a rubber band to. So that added points. All in all we had a good Time and the food was good. Nothing really to complain about. I would go back when I am in the area

I love Japanese steakhouses, so I should start off letting you know that. We've been to this restaurant a few times & it's always very good! We've had the cook "Danny" a few times. He's very particular but he does make a very good meal with perfectly temp meat to order. My only complaint here is that the ginger salad dressing is too thick and pasty. I strongly recommend the Orange Dragon drink!!! Mmmmm. We had a whole table of people for our group & we didn't realize that the tip was already included, after we had already paid the bill & were walking out - the hostess came up and asked us if we meant to do that. She so graciously corrected our amount for us!!!

I really wanted to love this place since it would've been very convenient and in a 2 minute walking distance, but honestly, it was just OK. I much prefer Kabuki, and am much more willing to walk an extra fifteen minutes to get there. There are really just too many other places to grab sushi in City Place and Clematis Street, that you might be better off at one of those. I was seated outside. The view was actually really nice. The server seemed a bit pushy. I asked for a few minutes to look at the menu and it seemed as if she hovered by me the whole time, maybe since I was the only one sitting outside the time. She barely gave me any time. I ordered the shrimp tempura udon noodle soup and a couple pieces of salmon and tuna sashimi. The udon noodle soup wasn't what I typically expected. I've had to before at a few places with a darker broth, with veggies, sliced fish cake, and all the fixings. This was a light broth with seaweed and green onion served with a heaping plate of tempura vegetables and a couple of tempura shrimp. It was more of a salty miso broth to my taste. The pieces of sashimi were at least decent sized portions. Guiltily, I might also have been put off by the disposable chopsticks, but I really thought it was going to be a nicer restaurant than that especially since it definitely isn't cheaper than other restaurants in the area. Get better ambiance, better specials, better service, and better go somewhere else.

Husband and I went here for date night recently. We had hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp. The food was great and prices were average. The service felt rushed, as soon as our table was finishing up the waiter was bringing checks and to go boxes. I really didn't understand the rush because there were not busy at all. In fact, most of the wait staff was just standing around. Nice place for birthday celebrations and girl's night out. Pick somewhere different if you like to take your time at dinner.

One star is only because once we received the food it was ok- portions were very small for hibachi. Otherwise it would have been zero stars. We were there last night for a company dinner. We made reservations for 40 people for the private room weeks in advance. We had to wait 45 minute to be seated. Dinner was served slowly. We spend over $1000 on just dinner and somehow a $29 bill popped up at the end for a few drinks that somehow didn't make it into the big bill. We asked the manager to work with us since we had already cashed out and between the bar waiting and dinner we had already spent $1400 and he absolutely refused. Not only did he refuse but he was incredibly rude to us. Really? We just dropped a ton of money at your restaurant. While being in the customer service industry, this was absolutely uncalled for. We will not be returning and will make sure people know about the slow and rude service that we received although this was a planned function.

The Dynamite Rolls were wonderful, had the conch in a spicy mayo sauce on top. The hibachi shrimp was excellent. My only complaint is the server was not attentive, the bus boy and another server had to help us, and the place was very pricey, more than other wonderful Japanese places I've been.

One of the better sushi/hibachi place in WPB. Great for lunch meetings because they are usually not too busy but customer service and food is always above average and delicious.

This place is terible! I observed 11 staff members doing absolutley nothing and the poor waitress serving us was clearly struggling to make it work. I was served a steak that was cooked properly but had absolutley no flavor and resembled the salisbury steak I was served in my elementary school cafeteria. I voiced my concerns to our server and her responce was that "maybe you should have ordered something else." I saw her talking to the manager or owner afterwards, but as there was far more staff than there were customers I presume that the business is hemoraging money and therefor incapable of comping anyones bad meal. If your considering going here for dinner, Don't! Let this sick animal die.

Great sushi lots of options my fiancé whose Asian loves to come here it is the closest to Asian food in the area . It's a bit expensive for some items . Staff is very attentive and helpful .

Zero stars! Wait staff was awful and inexperienced. Food was overpriced and mediocre. The bathrooms were messy and smelly. Totally disappointed. We were invited by friends so it wasn't our choice destination. We will not eat here again or at any other Saitos. I'd rather starve.

I think Saitos is pretty yummy. They have a hibachi area and a regular table area. I visit most frequently for lunch. It's never too busy during lunch. The lunch menu includes bento boxes that include small portions of a variety of foods at about $10. The service is generally pretty quick. They recently redid the outside area to include a bar and some tables. I can imagine the bar will be a hit in the evenings as it overlooks the fountain in city place. I did not give them the fifth star because their service can be spastic. Most times it's good but a few times the waiter has gone missing or or has forgotten to bring things we've requested. You only get 5 stars from me when you're exceptional. :)

This is the best hibachi restaurant around. Top Notch fried rice and everything grilled to perfection. If u don't come here u are missing out.

I went to this restaurant last night for the first time. It's located in City Place, West Palm Beach. Great atmosphere. I was entertained by the hibachi dinner and the food was pretty good. What caught my attention the most was the salad. I don't usually enjoy salad, but I tried the one there and it was pretty good! I believe it was some sort of ginger dressing they use. I liked it (which I never say about salads)! Service was good and pretty quick. I see myself going back for lunch or dinner again sometime.

Horrible service, not kid friendly & very disappointed in the experience at this restaurant. 2nd time at the location. Tried to give it a 2nd chance, fail. I've been to several hibachi restaurants, this is by far the worst. Try the hibachi dinning experience only at this location. The regular floor service should be totally revamped, along with the staff. #neveragain #$100tab42

For whatever reason, it seems like it's always hard to find sushi in Palm Beach... and the friends who I vacation with to Palm Beach and I all LOVE sushi! Saito Japanese Steakhouse is on the 2nd story at City Place above Armani Exchange. We had to wait a little while to be seated but, no worries, since we could shop while we waited! We enjoyed a yummy meal with wine, cocktails, sushi, and other Japanese dishes. Saito was not the best Japanese I've ever had but it fulfilled my craving and was priced right!

This is probably my favorite local Hibachi place. I find most hibachi foods to be bland, but it's pretty tasty here. Their Sushi is also delicious... try the Hawaiian roll.

I held off writing a review after my first bad visit because every place has an off-night, and I hoped that was the case with Saito's in City Place. Let's be honest -- you don't go to a hibachi restaurant for the food. I mean, I can get an over-cooked piece of "filet" at any old place. But I can't get the onion volcano or practice my shrimp-catching abilities elsewhere, so I give in to hibachi every once in a while. However, what hibachi lacks in culinary abilities, it typically makes up for in entertainment value and quality service. Yeah, not so much at this one. I went again last night for a birthday dinner, and it was the same bad story all over again. Here's the breakdown: 1. Portions -- Weird thing to start with, especially since most Asian places pile on the fried rice, vegetables and "chicken," but Saito's comes up short. They portion out fried rice and the hibachi vegetable medley like a Soviet soup kitchen, and you would think shrimp were recently added to the endangered species list based on the number they give you with your "chicken & shrimp" dinner. I got four. 2. Entertainment -- Again, you don't go to hibachi for the food -- you go to see a chef practice culinary wizardry on a massive cooking surface by making a shrimp dance in front of an onion volcano, followed by a massive eye-brow-scorching flame. These chefs? Egg flip with a spatula, half-hearted onion volcano... thank you, goodnight. Exaggeration? Slight. This was the routine on both trips I've made -- different chefs, different nights, different groups, same weak show. Either they don't train their chefs, or they just don't care. Neither possibility is a good sign. 3. Service -- Drink orders were taken promptly upon being seated, which was nice, except the drinks didn't actually come until the salad and soup dishes had been cleared from our table. Ten minutes for eight waters and five beer bottles. OK, maybe the bar got backed up, we survived. Refills? Nope. Water was downed, glasses were empty, no one filled them up for the rest of the meal. In sum, you could do much, much better from any restaurant. Sub-par food, sub-par entertainment, sub-par service.

I came here to meet a few of my girlfriends last night for dinner. It's located on the 2nd floor of Cityplace next to Brewzzi's. It's huge and has plenty of seating area. We love our chocolate martinis. Our waiter was funny and made sure that we were happy with our meals. I liked the chicken terayaki with white rice that I had. The chicken was topped with a nice glaze of sauce and I could barely finish it all. It was a nice night out with the ladies!

When friends of mine decided to take me here for dinner while I was in town, I was excited. When we arrived my experience quickly went down hill. :( Ordered the calamari. ewww. Very rubbery. Decided on sushi. My roll was basic to say the least. No flavor. Simple tuna roll with crab meat on top. Had to wait for the waiter to bring soy sauce. My friends had Hibatchi and the chef was average. Would not visit again.

Love this place! Every time I am catching a show at Kravis I eat here because it's consistently fabulous, quick and clean. My fave is JB Deluxe!!! I eat this everywhere (aka JB Tempura), but Saito put's fresh crab on top and it blows away the competition. City Place roll is also great and features tuna, pineapple, avocado and tempura flakes. Decent seaweed salad. Never had hibachi, entrees or dessert, but based on the sushi I would think it is good. Go on Thurs night and sit on the patio so you can here the live music at City Place. Any other time, go straight to the sushi bar!

Went down to West Palm with a couple of best friends last week and we decided to go to Saito Steakhouse after being convinced by one of the mates. It's located in a BEAUTIFUL plaza. Really dressed up and fancy-like with the whole decor and furnishing. The inside portrayed a lively animated atmosphere; that of expectations from a steakhouse! Bold red walls and things were on fire here; literally! Our waiter was not funny. He actually turned my happy night attitude into a grumpy sour apple one. I do not have a loud voice and the place was very busy/noisy when we came; so when he asked for my order, he couldn't hear. But he MOCKED me. Like he made little squeamish sounds that of a mouse. T__T A REAL turn off. Basically I hated him. LOL. When our chef came out, he made the fried rice and gave it to those who ordered it. I noticed I was the only one who didn't order fried rice and waiter patiently for my Brown rice to come. Took 15 mins. (By that time the side veggies were already served and everyone was eating -.-) But no biggie, it was a busy night. I ordered shrimp hibachi and it was really tasty! It REALLY fills you up, so I suggest ordering and sharing. Enjoyed the Salmon, shrimp & scallions. Perfectly cooked and had a certain taste to it...kind of like a grilled taste? I have a phobia on Home Cooking and how everything at home tastes better + cheaper; and I have to say Saito didn't really impress me..but it was a good experience. Great for big parties or get togethers with lots of friends. Just be mentally prepare when the bill comes...

Not too bad. Sushi is ok. Rice is always so greasy and gets me sick. Habachi is way overpriced. Although the place is huge, it gets packed on the weekends. Staff is super friendly and service is quick.

  • Emily E.

I should give 5 stars purely for the fact they accommodated our group of 18 less than sober people without a hitch. The hibachi was good, the sushi was GREAT. Try the dynamite roll - a cali roll with conch. yum! The service could use some work - only because they seem unorganized & confused. But, like the other reviews state, there is nothing that stands out about this place - better than Benihana, but nothing spectacular

This place is okay. I would've expected the sushi to be better since we were so coastal. We sat outside on the beautiful night. The service was good. The drinks were strong, the sushi was just okay. Price was a little high.
